Determine the generation of your own AirPods

Identification by the OVP:

There is an individual label on the original packaging.

Here you can read out the following information:

#Model number: The model number is BOLD printed on the label.
> MMEF2ZM/A: AirPods 1st generation
> MV7N2ZM/A | MV7N2TY/A: AirPods 2nd generation
> MRXJ2ZM/A: AirPods 2nd generation (wireless charging case)
> MME73ZM/A: AirPods 3rd generation
> MWP22ZM/A: AirPods Pro 1st Generation (2019)

Identification by engraving in the charging case:

In the right side of the lid of the charging case you can read the following information:

#serial number: The last 3 digits of this number are decisive.
> 1st generation AirPods end on 8TT
> 2nd generation AirPods end on X2Y or MMT
> 3rd generation AirPods end on <>
> AirPods Pro end on KKT or C6L
> AirPods Pro with MagSafe charging case end on 1059 or 1NRC

Identification by engraving on the AirPods:

Below the “head” of each AirPod is a short identification number

Here you can read out the following information:

#Article number: Starts with an A followed by 4 digits

> A1523 (Right) | A1702 (Left): 1st generation AirPods.
> A2032 (Right) | A2031 (Left): 2nd generation AirPods.
> A2565 (Right) | A2564 (Left): 3rd generation AirPods.
> A2083 (Right) | A2084 (Left): AirPods Pro 1st Generation (2019 & 2021)
> A2698 (Right) | A2699 (Left): AirPods Pro 2nd generation (2022)

Identification with the help of iPhone / iPad

For this, the AirPods must have been connected to the device before. Under Android this identification does not work!

> On your iOS device, open Settings -> Bluetooth. Click the (i) next to the AirPods.

Here you can read out the following information:

#Article number: Always starts with an A.
> A1523 (Right) | A1702 (Left): 1st generation AirPods.
> A2031 (Right) | A2032 (Left): 2nd generation AirPods.

AirPods of the 3rd generation are only available since the end of 2021 and resemble AirPods Proon the outside.

AirPods of the 3rd generation do not have silicone adapters!

Difficulties with the setup?

There are technical hurdles that can interfere with or prevent the setup and pairing between the newly purchased device and your existing set.

First, we ask you to go through the provided instructions (either in paper form or here on the homepage) again step by step.

If pairing still fails, the cause may be a non-original AirPod set.

Your existing AirPod set may not be original. Unfortunately, nowadays there are a lot of (and also very good) replicas in circulation that cannot be paired with original parts. Suspect your AirPods are counterfeit? We are happy to help you here. Just write us an email or WhatsApp message, there we will give you more information.

You can perform the following simple test:

A serial number is engraved in the lid of your charging case. You can check this number on this official Apple website regarding warranty status: www.checkcoverage.apple.com/ch/de/

If the page tells you that the device has supposedly been replaced or the serial number cannot be found, this is evidence of a non-original AirPod set.

Verification showed that your set is original and you still can’t get the AirPod paired? Please check the following:

Open your charging case and take out both AirPods and wait for the LED on the front or inside the charging case to go out. Now insert the AirPod you just bought from us into the charging case. The LED should now light up (usually green or orange) and go out again after approx. 10 seconds.
